چکیده

the size of the thymus was profoundly influenced by emotional events and by neurodocrine aberrations. Hans Selye discovered (1936) that when the hypothalamuspituitary-adrenal axis is activated, it leads to the rapid involution of the thymus. Following that, Andor Szentivanyi and colleagues showed (1949) the regulatory power of the nervous system over immune reactions. Cytokines, especially interleukin (IL)-2, IL6, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-aand interferon (IFN)-g were shown to regulate the secretion of pituitary hormones during systemic immune/inflammatory reactions. It is also clear that nerves have immunoregulatory function and provide feedback signals from lymphoid organs and from sites of immune/inflammatory reactions towards the central nervous system. Now, it is well known that the nervous system plays a role in organizing, adapting and restraining the systemic inflammatory reactions via a complex cascade of mechanisms (Table 1).

S-IMM: Switched IMM Algorithm for Maneuvering Target Tracking

For maneuvering target tracking problem, interacting multiple model (IMM) algorithm performs better than single model algorithm, however, it also has some shortcomings. This study is devoted to propose a high accurate IMM algorithm. An improved IMM algorithm, named Switched IMM(S-IMM), is proposed. The S-IMM algorithm consists of two independent IMM filters with different model sets, CV(constan...

The Comparative Validity of Interactive Multimedia Questionnaires to Paper-Administered Questionnaires for Beverage Intake and Physical Activity: Pilot Study

BACKGROUND Brief, valid, and reliable dietary and physical activity assessment tools are needed, and interactive computerized assessments (ie, those with visual cues, pictures, sounds, and voiceovers) can reduce administration and scoring burdens commonly encountered with paper-based assessments. OBJECTIVE The purpose of this pilot investigation was to evaluate the comparative validity and re...

Low-volume muscular endurance and strength training during 3-week forearm immobilization was effective in preventing functional deterioration

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to determine whether endurance and strength hand grip exercises during 3-week upper limb immobilization preserve muscle oxidative capacity, endurance performance and strength. METHODS Ten healthy adult men underwent non-dominant forearm immobilization by plaster cast for 21 days. Five healthy adult subjects were designated as the immobilization (IMM) grou...

Immunogenic variants of a murine fibrosarcoma induced by mutagenesis: requirement of viable cells for antigen-specific cross-protection.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the immunological and biological consequences of neoantigen expression by immunogenic tumor variants (Imm+) following in vitro treatment with the mutagen 1-methyl-3-nitro-1-nitrosoguanidine. The weakly immunogenic murine fibrosarcoma MCA-F was used because we have previously characterized the tumor-specific transplantation antigen expressed by this tu...

Differential induction of mucosal and systemic antibody responses in women after nasal, rectal, or vaginal immunization: influence of the menstrual cycle.

A cholera vaccine containing killed vibrios and cholera toxin B subunit (CTB) was used to compare mucosal immunization routes for induction of systemic and mucosal Ab. Four groups of women were given three monthly immunizations by the rectal immunization (R(imm)) route, nasal immunization (N(imm)) route, or vaginal immunization route during either the follicular (V-FP(imm)) or luteal (V-LP(imm)...
